Oh dear I have no idea where to go with this

Update--I was able to cancel the order for the small sewing machine. After talking to her mother, we decided to wait and try to find a beginners sewing class in her area. At the moment there are none but they often show up for spring break or over the summer. My old crappy Singer is at their house so that I don't have to drag a machine with me for mending or alterations. It can be a bear to use, but the next time we are there, I will teach DGD the fundamentals of threading, bobbin winding and cleaning, plus bring along some small quick project so that the lesson is fun too.

many years ago, my 10 yr old daughter informed me that she needed a pair of shorts, and that she was going to make a pair tomorrow while i was at work. after an hrs instruction of 'how to use it', when i got home the next day, she had chosen her material, made, and was wearing a pair of shorts. with an old straight stitch portable i had gotton as MY first sewing machine. sometimes, i think, just giving a regular sewing machine is so worth the money. I bet she could follow the pattern at her age, all by herself.
