Suzi, your story is an inspiration to me. I have a longarm quilting business and I do some sewing for pay. But sometimes I get really burnt out from deadlines. That's when I just want to make something of my own (or to give away). It really is good therapy! Sometimes I give myself a reward for stick-to-it-iveness. I tell myself, "When you finish this job, you can take time off to make the latest BOM block." . . . or a charity quilt, or a tote bag or what-ever I have been thinking about.

VERY nice! Did you use a pattern for the skirts or just go by your eye? I made some skirts for my GD and her BF (ages 11 & 12). I bought men's XL tee shirts and cut them off right under the sleeve. I made a hem where I cut, folded that down so and hemmed so that I had a channel for the elastic to go through, pulled the tape to the right waist measurement, stitched and VOILA! they were done because the bottom of the tee shirt was already hemmed.

I didn't see the original post but everyone was so right. I'm a long time sewer but became a quilter as a result of getting over a serious illlness that was followed but severe clinical depression. I can honestly say quilting CHANGED my life!!!!!

Not sure what your story was, but it must have been contagous. For two months I've not had any motivation (except gardening - and that was a necessity). But this morning I feel like I may be getting back into the swing of things. Have several Linus quilts cut and am going to start sewing them today. It's too hot to garden, and besides the field peas aren't quite ready to pick. Glad both of us are on the ups.

Sorry to hear about your "slump" and glad to hear that sewing helped. That's what I call my quilting--"therapy". Much cheaper that counciling and more fun!! Keep up the good work and hope things are improving with your family crisis.
