Ok, let's be honest

I always sew straight. I find it easy for some reason. Never needed to use the seam ripper so I threw it away a few years back. ...hang on, Elvis and Johnny Cash are knocking on the door again. Maybe they can help me get rid of the aliens who crash landed in my garden, they're eating me out of house and home!

I have noticed a lot of teachers on videos not youtube either, sew a bit crooked too. So we aren't the only ones. It does help to put the needle down when you stop so you start in the same spot. I don't sew as straight as I used to either, getting old is the pits.

I use two seam guides and that really helps me stay straight. I found that the magnetic business cards make great seam guides and not strong enough to hurt a computerized machine. If I veer at the end of a seam I resew.

Do I have to 'Come out of the Closet' I'm sure I'm not always Straight but close enough for my own self! After all I don't plan on trying to use my Quilts to get to Heaven but I bet if just one covers and keeps someone warm thats All that counts!

Me too. I use my hands to guide the fabric and don't rely on pins for piecing. They can pull the fabric out of line. But after a year of this, I'm still not perfect. At least I know where I tend to go wrong - like at the beginning, the end, and every 'speed bump' (crossing seam)
