I am a starch addict. Love how much more accurate cutting and stiching is using it. I use a heavy areasol, put prefer the Stay-flo concentrate, so I can custom mix according to my needs. Its really helps with paper piecing as the fabric is less likely to fold back on it self.
Do give it time to absorb into the fabric , it will give better results and less likey to flake or build up on the bottom of the iron.
Like many others have said .. I have never had an issue with bugs , so I starch without giving it a second thought. The bugs that like starch ( sliverfish being the #1) aren't a problem for me.

I have never had bugs when I used to starch and like pippi65 I am going to safely say that was a long time ago.

Also, I wanted to get starch at my Dollar Tree store and they only had "Heavy Magic Starch" spray. Is it okay to use heavy or should I buy regular strength somewhere else? I assume you just spray a light to medium mist and then press until dry and flat? I am going to press out a pack of fat quarters (a Moda bundle so they are folded pretty tight with lots of heavy fold creases).
Buy the starch in the pump bottle in the grocery section at Walmart. It is fabulous, and you can make the fabric as stiff as you like and no bad fumes. It is wonderful and inexpensive.
