Is it okay to use wideback fabric for binding?

I don't make anything larger than a double but I try to use wide backing so I can use the leftover as binding. I sometimes use wide backing to back two smaller quilts if I can get a good price on it. If the wide backing is "lesser" quality why would you use as a back anyway? faulty thinking/info there

I now use straight binding and out of any fabric I have I like. I have bias binding on my a lot of my first quilts (because I listened to the quilt police) and they are fraying on the edges. The quilts with double fold straight binding look great. To me bias is twisted fabric threads so they want to untwist. Probably not fact but it makes sense to me.
