Many people still quilt in the old way especially in isolated or rural areas. I learned that way but I was born again when introduced to rotary cutting.

I really loved the video. I didnt get a chance to see it the other day.

For those that are having a hard time hearing it make sure your computer sound is turned all the way up and the video sound is turn all the way up. Even with both of those and headphones I still had trouble in some spots

I looked up inflation for how much her quilt would be today (well 2010) and it would have cost 444.54 for 150.00 quilt.
ohh yea and the 35.00 baby quilt would cost 103.73 in 2010

It was really neat thanks for sharing

Thanks for that. I learned to quilt that way and taught that way until about 5 years ago. My frames were antiques with frame sides of different lengths and legs with threads on top. Big wooden nuts held it all tight together. I had to sell it to move west. Still my favorite way to do things. Feels more a part of me I guess.

Wow! That was great. I loved viewing this old fashioned way of quilting. I learned 10 years ago with all the new gadgets. I've been teaching a new addicted young beginner sewer how to quilt. Big mistake is having her start out with the new precuts. i.e. layer cakes, honey buns, charm squares

When we chose her next pattern that involved rotary cutting all the pieces and parts, she hated it and thought it was old fashioned!!!! Oh no!

My first quilt was cut with sissors. It was 15 years later before I bought a rotory cutter. After not quilting for 15 years, there has been so much improvments in quilting but it is still beautiful to see the art and crafts of our mothers and grandmothers.
