If you sign up for the Martelli newsletter, you will get notification of all sales. They have 50% off at least twice a year & some specialty ones in between. The Round About is very nice. I like it better than the Olfa I have.

I have both sizes of the Olfa mats, and they work fine for me. I do find I use the smaller one more often. I guess I have too much stuff on my cutting table that gets in the way when I use the larger one. I have often wondered if the mats that have ball bearings would move too quickly when trying to cut the fabric. Do they slip easily?

Love my martelli roundabout! Has a cutting mat and a round ironing surface to go on top. They just came out with a round wool pressing mat also made to fit. The Martelli, I have read, has 16 steel ball bearings in it, so that is what gives it the smooth movement. Also, the Martelli rotary cutter is the best I have ever used. Yes, I discovered Martelli products recently at a quilt show. They are a family -run business in Florida and the customer service is second to none.

I bought myself the Olfa 12" rotating cutting mat for my birthday in March, so very recent. I love it and now wonder why I hadn't bought it sooner! It makes cutting small fiddly units so much easier! I would have bought the 17" rotating mat, but my sewing machine cabinet that I second as my cutting table is barely 17" wide.

I have the Mathilda rotating mat that I bought (or I should say my husband bought. It was a birthday present that I picked out and ordered lol) from the Fat Quarter Shop. I really like it. It rotates very smoothly and is very stable.
