YaaHoo!!!! I got a Husqvarna Mega 18 with frame and QuiltSewClever for Christmas. Be prepared to get intimating involved if you have to put the frame together yourself and hopefully your dealer's on-site support will be better than mine. :-{

My dealer is only 20 miles away and he is awesome! He will set it up and all that fun stuff.
I won't get frustrated learning it. I love machinery of any kind. Something to remember is don't be afraid. It is only a bunch of metal, wood, and plastic. You, the operator, are the one who makes the magic. I also LOVE learning stuff. The harder the better.

Congratulations. I, too, just got a newTin Lizzie a couple days before Xmas. I practiced on cheap muslin (I bought at Joann's with 40% off coupons) for a few weeks before i was "brave" enough to do a real quilt. I sewed a simple D9Patch quilt to use for my first quilting experience. I quilted it about 2 weeks ago. It turned out wonderful. But I felt like such a "rookie" the first time I loaded the frame--and wondering if I was rolling each bar the correct direction. Amazingly, it turned out very nice. Then my friend asked me if I wanted any quilt tops to "practice" on and I told her yes and I would do it for free for her if I could put whatever kind of quilting pattern I wanted on it. So I did one of her quilt tops yesterday and it turned out wonderful. I have another one loaded now to do for her. I use old newspapers and an ink pen to "doodle and practice" styles on, since I do not have the computer--I just do it all freehand. My dealer is 2 1/2 hours away so I didn't get much help from her. I kind of just figured things out myself. I did order online-2 different DVD's that I heard about on this Quilter's Board. One is "Machine Quilting for Beginners" by Kim Brunner and the other one is "Just Do it" by Myrna Ficken. I highly recommend ordering them. I learned a lot from those two DVDs and I can always refer back to them. I feel they were money well spent since I did not ever use a long arm before and had no classes so I was basically clueless. Now that I've done my first couple quilts, I have my confidence built up and I am wxcited now to do more. Good luck with your longarm--Have fun!
