One color plaid Flannel scraps
I have a very large clear leaf bag (larger than garbage) of a single plaid color of flannel scraps. All shapes and sizes and best quilaity flannel (remnants from a small clothing store). I have washed (in warm water) and dried them and am now in the process of ironing and sorting.
I'm thinking of making rag quilts (lap size) for my sunroom. Could I make a crazy design and add some decorative stitches when I go to quilt the layers together. I'm an experienced sewist but a novice quilter.
I would love some ideas for the flannel. Thanks so much.

Flannel works well for a rag quilt. Typically one would sew an "X" across the block to stabilize the layers, but i don't see why you can't get crazy and use some decorative stitches instead. Sounds fun!

Looks beautiful and cozy. I'd like to do one with my pieces. DH pointed out that if I want them to serve a dual purpose 9 fold on a chair and used as a chair pad) the ridges may be uncomfortable. I've decided to piece them on muslin squares (12 1/2 inch) and then join. I'll sort and organize and take to the cottage for a rainy day project.
