    I llike the plaid, but I would try to cut it so it would look like a stripe or cut it on the bias. I would use matching thread to applique the pieces down, or to simplify your life, use black or transparent thread. It would probably be best to use the transparent/translucent thread - it would make your life easier all the way around.

    I like the plaid - I did see that someone said cut it on the bias but I would be very careful about doing that because of the stretching; it would be hard to keep the blocks and rows straight.

    I agree, the plaid would make great sashing. The others seem too busy and would distract from your adorable blocks.
