    Default One piece patterns

I love one piece patterns. Off hand I can think of the diamond for the tumbling block, the hexagon for the grandmother's flower garden. The triangle for the pyramid. The wavy on for ocean waves. The apple core or double bit ax. Of course the square which is used in almost every thing. And the HST. How many one piece patterns can you think of??

This is a repeat of the triangle, but OBW is the only other thing I can think of.

I also love one piece quilts. They go together so quick and easy. Tumblers, half hexies

Any shape that all sides are the same or if different then fit together. A good source is Encyclopedia Of Pieced Patterns by Barbara Brackman

I don't think I've seen half hexies before. But I thought of another one. The clam shell.

Any shape that has tessalating properties should be possible in all different sizes. I love the one shape with different sizes within. Even rectangles .

There are wonderful quilts that can be made of just rectangles...a whole book of them..Successful Scrap Quilts: From Simple Rectangles. I have made 3 quilts from the book and cutting for a 4th.

What is the 'wavy on for ocean waves'?

I am collecting ideas for a 'someday' charm quilt, tessalating. I save scraps from every quilt I've done (not cutting them into sizes yet!). It will have so many happy memories, with bits from the quilts I made for our children and our family and friends.
