Measure twice, cut once, 1/4" seams, clean machine, sharp needle, use your imagination, don't let others tell you what you HAVE to do, have fun!

Quilting should take you away into a land of your own.
When quilting seems like a chore stop and come back later.

I dont have one but many.....I agree with all that are posted.

    STARCH!!!!!

Everybody has to learn. Find a quilting buddy who will help you.

Most printed directions make absolutely no sense. It is not you. You tube and DVD's are your friends.

Buy a great seam ripper....you are going to need it. I use the surgical ones and buy them in bulk.

If at first you succeed, dont look so surprized!

So what if that project came out awful, dont you have a crazy aunt who loves you that you can give it too?

Go slow to go fast...a tortoise and the hare kind of thing.

I can reduce how fast my machine stitches...speed control feature...for piecing I set it down about 60-80%. I find that I pay more attention that way. The rhythm of the sewing machine is more relaxing...AND there's way less ripping!

PS. Totally a starch-o-holic now too. Makes piecing and machine quilting so much easier and accurate!

Take your time, and take frequent breaks.

Don't worry if your quilts aren't perfect, 'if you can't see the imperfections from a galloping horse, they are fine'...

I think all of you ladies covered all the tips that I would have given.

    Marsey love your avatar photo!

I think you could get one more piece of fabric in that car if you tried a little bit harder than they did.

    What is a Shape Cut?

I have several that I use regularly <G>
    1. Think of an "oops" not as a mistake but a Design Opportunity.

    2. Don't store starched fabric. (Starch is from corn, attracts bugs which will eat the starch and fabric.)

    3. There is almost always more than one right way to do something. If someone says there is only one way (theirs) find out the reason why. If no reason, wonder.

    4. It is YOUR quilt. The decisions are yours, and you are the one who has to live with it. (at least while working on it.)

    5. If you aren't having fun why are you doing it? (Sometimes the learning part isn't as much fun, but you know that whatever "it" is will be fun on down the road. That is okay.)

    6. Perfect is boring.

And, remember the galloping horse test.......
