The names are so similar that Cottonwood Quilts may be able to prevent you from using Cottonwood Creek Quilts.
Because this is an online store, I'd start with the domain name. You want something that is short, easy to remember and won't be plagued with spelling errors. To check domain names, go to one of the registrars (godaddy.com for example) and see if the name is available. Once you see it is available, go ahead and register it before someone else does. You should try and do that before you post the name here, so no one else grabs it. It's only about $10 to register the name.

After that I would check with your state database and see if there are any conflicts.

I am the Hotel Manager at a Casino called Prairie's Edge Casino Resort. Which gives me the idea of "Prairie's Edge Quilts" or Prairie Valley Quilts". Just some ideas--after all--your Profile shows you are from Kansas. That's prairie land isn't it?

Not trying to rain on any parade, but Cottonwood Creek Quilts seems just a little cumbersome. Have you considered Cotton Creek Quilts?

Because you plan to be "online" you might need to check nation wide.

You defiantly need a domain name, you need to find one short and sweet easy to remember and easy to spell via the Internet if it is going to be online only you need to register your domain name and use hosting godaddy is pretty enexpensive, also if you plan on doing an online shop you need a way for people to order and pay etc...

I did a little searching this afternoon and found a company that hosts and builds websites for a whole bunch of quilt shops. When I get my sales tax number I'll get my business name set up. The state says it takes four weeks after I apply for the sales tax number before I can use it so it looks like it'll be about a month and a half to two months before my shop will be up and running. I'm excited!
