I just looked at the Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt from MSCO, love it! I will use that pattern for the cake. Thanks for suggesting it.

I struggled a lot with a pattern because I wanted to preserve the bears - didn't want to cut the up. I ended up used a Moda Bake Shop pattern - baby lattice quilt - http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/10/...uilt.html#more - for the "girly" fabrics, and am saving the "boy" fabrics for another quilt someday. Have fun!

Oh cute!!! This is for me so I plan to use as much of the cake as I can. I bought the extra bear yardage for the binding. I did plan to use the white for border, sashing or as a buffer of all the colors in the block.

I agree with everyone else, larger pieces would show off the bear fabric so nice. Your fabric is very pretty and I can't wait to see what you make with it.

    Thanks!

    Here is my fabric:

The yellow will be the backing.

Your prints seem to be pretty big. In order to save the designs, I'd consider a Warm Wishes pattern with the addition of a couple solids or tonals. Maybe red/blue or green/yellow. I'd make the squares 8-10" squares---------5 blocks across and 7 blocks long. If you have enough fabric! Gingham checks would be pretty with the white to make the frame blocks.

With D9P, you could adjust your block sizes to see more of the print ... or could fussy cut the specific pictures in the print.

If doing the D9P, you might want to use the yellow on the front ... or other contrasting colours for the stripped pieces and smaller squares that will be formed when you cut it up.

And too, there are LOTS of other patterns to consider to show off this lovely print.
The first I think about would be a snowball pattern or variation of it.
Good pick. Snowballs would really show off the fabrics without butchering them.

Thanks everyone! I am leaning towards the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern but will check the others out too.

Ok, love the snowball pattern too. Now to chose! I think ya'll made it worse. lol

Question, the snowball pattern tutorial I found used a 8" square and 4 - 2 3/4" squares. If I want to keep the layer cake as (less cutting), would I just add 2" to the smaller squares?

Dp9 for sure. The stacked coins will just chop up the prints.

I agree with QuiltE. The snowball would show off the pattern really well.
