Opinions Please: Best Quilting Mag for Beginners/Fabric of the Month Clubs
I was wondering what quilting mag is best for beginners. Also, what do you all think about fabric of the month clubs? Keepsake looks like they have nice fabrics for their clubs. Does anyone belong to the Quilting Club of America? Thank you!!

AP&Q American patchwork and Quilting is a great standard magazine designed for beginners through advanced piecers and their on line "All People Quilt" is a good teaching forum that has lots of ways to help get started.
Personally, I think Quilting Club of America is geared more toward the selling of products.
There are lots of places to search out.
Quilters Newsletter Magazine is my favorite Just a bit more advanced and the combination of both magazines together would be a great combination to learn about every thing from color to techniques.

McCall's Quick Quilts is targeted for beginners, but all of them will most likely have a beginner's project or two in each issue. Carve out some me time, head for the newsstand section of the bookstore and browse away to get a feel for each publication and see which one(s) appeal most to you.
I'm not a fan of fabric of the month clubs because I don't want to pay for any fabric I might not like. Keepsake Quilting does offer nice fabrics; their homespun plaids are great.

I think it's hard to beat BLOCK magazine by Missouri Star quilt company. I love that I have access to the accompanying youtube videos for each pattern. I haven't done a fabric of the month type thing.

When I first started quilting I bought every different quilt magazine I could find on the newstands. It didn't take me long to decide which one I wanted to subscribe to. The ones I really liked are no longer in publication though. Right now I like Block. You may like Quilty by Mary Fons. It's a magazine geared toward beginners and it's a lot of fun. It's the only one my young adult DD will actually pick up and read through.
I use to belong to a batik fabric of the month. That was great to get a good stash of all different batiks. And don't forget to try different types and weights of thread too.

There is a mag called Quilt It Today that costs $3.99 on the newstand and it is great. I also like Block.
My bookshelf is stuffed with mags, no more room.
Keepsake is too expensive, I prefer Connecting Threads.

Look at the different quilt magazines and choose one you like. I've liked Fons & Porter and The Quilter, but I'll probably discontinue buying them because I have too many magazines now. I've never belonged to a fabric club. I can't see getting small quantities of fabric I may not even like. Someone mentioned batiks, and that might be my only exception since all batiks are beautiful.
