Opinions please on quilt group dues.

Expensive? Yes! My guild has a fee of $22 per year! Now, we do not bring in nationally known speakers but we are a group of 50 that spend an hour together learning new techniques once a month and have monthly give-a-ways that are nice. We are given copies of new patterns with directions, written directions for tips, cues and ideas to make our work faster and more accurate. We do a yearly quilt along, a mystery quilt, two retreats and make quilts of valor share our latest quilts as show and tell. AND we have a monthly open quilting day that is much like a one day retreat to just gather together to layer quilts, lots of room, or to get help from the pro's or to just chat and work on what ever project is at hand. I am not yearning of anything more. For $22 that is plenty!

My DH's hunting camp fee is $1500 a year and he goes maybe two weeks out of the year. Most of his clubs cost at least $500 a year in dues. Golfing is at least $50 a game or more. How much is your kids activities? Cheer, soccer, band, dirt bike, baseball? So why do guild members think any dues over $50 a year is too much? I belong to every guild within a couple hours driving from me. I don't go to the all the meetings but when a great workshop is offered I am a member and get an assured spot at member cost.
Cheers, K

I pay $35 per year. If the speaker is conducting a class the following day of their presentation, the classes are $35 each. Works out great for all of our members. They would never turn down anyone wanting to join.
