Too high for me too! I belong to a group that meets weekly at a public library. No fees. We do make projects for the community. The group is not limited to just quilting, as we have members who knit and crochet. This year the library has requested us to make a quilted Christmas tree skirt using photos of various historic sites in the village.

How did this conversation come about?
Is it possible the person saying the dues were high was hoping that would deter you? Then when it didn't, she had to go to Plan B - saying your politics were not welcome?
I so hope this is a misunderstanding.
I'm not a writer, but doesn't this sound like a story for someone who wanted to have a quilt guild in their novel?
Writers - get to work, I'd buy it

I belong to a large quilt guild that charges $25 a year. There is no way I would pay $12 a week. I would rather buy my own fabrics. Whoever has a birthday each month brings snacks. We pay for our church rental. I would like to know where your money is going, too.

Those were two different experiences posted by two different people in this thread. But you're right, it might make for an interesting book!
