Opinions please
I couldn't get the fabric I hoped for by trading, and buying new is out of my budget, soooo.... I am getting creative for this comfort quilt!!!
I decided to make silhouettes of his heros for a center panel. I am toying with the idea of using the print for the head shape and black for the background; opposite of what is traditional. Here is a sample of how one looks. I am torn and just cannot decide if it's the way to go or if I should do the black silhouette and print background.
Opinions please! Thank you.

I think that particular white print fabric would look better as background with a black silhouette. But in general, I like the idea of the lighter color for the silhouette with a black background. I would use light colors of a mottled print, solids, or something that looks like a solid from a distance.

I *really* like your photo. However, the print fabric looks on the "girly" side to me; I think it's the colors (pink and blue). Having a horse or cowboy themed print is less important than having the right fabric for the silhouette. If you reverse and use black silhouettes, I think the quilt will look more masculine. However, then I'm afraid the background will look too girly from a distance.

yay barny! You recognized my silhouette! The colors are actually dark teal and burgundy on a tan background. I guess the flash washed them out too much.
I have a blended browns background fabric I would probably use if I don't go with the reverse image idea. I guess I will use the same background and put all three images together in one panel block for the center rather than making 3 separate blocks using different fabric for each.... hmmmmmmm...
decisions, decisions, decisions. Or I could use all black images each on a background appropriate to his calling... arghhhhhh...

Oh, I had posted in "looking for to trade" for Oakland Raiders fabric, also would have been able to use Oakland Athletics and Boston Celtics...... as those are his favorite teams. But I'm happy to go with this new plan, working with his "heros". Here is my final center panel, except I 'm wondering about adding names below each silhouette.
I've taken the majority opinion and gone with the black. The panel is 26" x 30".
