    Default Ordering flannel online??

Living in Florida, I don't have many options when it comes to flannel, and the quality of You-Know-Who's isn't suitable. I want to make a rag quilt for family "UpNorth", so I'll have to order online. I like Connecting Threads, but they don't have a large selection. Can anyone recommend another line? Are there certain manufacturers you like or that I should avoid? If I know what to look for, I can shop for the best price.

    Thanks for your help!

Thousands of Bolts has wonderful Flannels. Very nice quality. Select a color grouping then select fabric type, drop down menu and click flannel. I have ordered loads of flannel from them and their prices are more than resonable. Northcott, maywood Studio and Hoffman are all very nice flannels. Timeless treasures flannel can sometimes be on the thin side so I'm not sure I would recommend it for a rag quilt. I have not tried Henry Glass or South Sea Imports but I have always been very happy with both those manufacturers quilting cottons. Stay away from the wide back flannels, they are also on the thin side.

I would also highly recommend Moda flannel. I used a marbles flannel for a quilt and it was the yummiest flannel I've ever felt in my life. Worked up beautifully. I bought it in Lancaster, PA and I don't think that store does online sales so I'm no help to you for an online source. But the fabric was awesome.

I have loads of Moda flannels in my stash. They're wonderfully soft and thick, and easy to work with. I'd recommend them as well. Don't know about online source, but there are plenty of places that carry Moda. Just do a quick search and lots will come up.

I have ordered flannel from Keepsake Quilting. They have the good thick flannel. I think theirs is mostly Maywood. They have nice flannel kits.

The latest flannel I ordered was fom fabrics.con and it is beautiful. Although i am not a prewasher, I pre washed it cause the flannel shrinks like crazy. Good luck!

Check out Quiltshops.com. Type in flannel on the search line and you will get 162 pages of quilt shop quality flannel. If you add the word "sale", you will get all the flannels on sale. Can't beat the variety. I buy from these shops quite often and have never been disappointed.

I just ordered three yds of flannel from Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day site and when it came it was beautiful. I put it in the wash with HOT water to pershrink it. I don't beleive it shrank one bit and when it came out of the dryer I did not have to touch an iron to it. It was perfect. Would definitely order from them again. Marge
