Thank you everyone for your ideas!

Candi, great to "see" you again. All is well, but hectic here.

My closet is pretty small. I rent the apartment, so I can't put in shelving. I might try and find some narrow drawers I can put in my closet, towards the back. It's deeper than it is wide. The doorway itself is pretty small. There's no hooks or bars to hang anything in. I have a very small, kid's bookcase in there that holds my tools and accessories on the top shelf and my little color bins on the bottom shelf.

When I get home today, I'll measure the door opening, though I know it's small, and measure how deep it is. I'll look and see how much those little plastic pull out drawers are. All of these are good ideas.

I did try the search feature first. Most people have these big nice sewing rooms to organize. I only have a closet and it has to fit all my stuff plus both my sewing machines, now that I have 2.

I'll try to post pics when I'm done. If you can imagine the big box a microwave comes in, that's what I have all my stuff stuffed in at the moment. I have to figure out a way to set it up so I can see what I have.

My stuff is in a closet. I used shoe organizers and on the bottom is a bookcase on its side.

Wow...that is beautiful. I think my closet is half that size. I may have to look into those shoe things. That's beautiful! My bookcase is square, so on it's side is the same. Might have to look for some of those tall and skinny ones though.

Are those shoe organizers cardboard? That really looks good.

OH crud. I just had another thought. I bought some clear tubs to put all my fabric in a couple weeks ago - I turned them on their sides and stacked the fabric in so when I open it I am looking at a neat pile of folds. I use something that looks kind of like the shoe organizer for the kids toys. it has 9 cubes in it - and I have a handful of cloth baskets that fit in them. One of those would fit under the table I use as a cutting table.... but just how much fabric would fit in it??

I can't put my current tubs sideways as all the little scraps would come out.

I wonder about turning other tubs on their side and putting yardage in. My little bookcase isn't deep enough to put yardage in, but it's great for holding my smaller sewing box, my bottles of everything from starch to 501, my basket of tools like blades, cutters, small rulers, pens etc. I even have my tubs of scraps in it. It is now FULL!

So, now I'll be getting out my tape measure and figuring out what else I can get in there!

    Thanks everyone!
