Just passing information along from another quilting bulletin board forum:

    Dear fellow quilters.
I am mostly a lurker but occasionally I do post. I live in Carisbrook ,Victoria ,Australia.
No doubt you have heard of and seen some of the devastation of the floods happening over here on your news. My little town of Carisbrook has about 800 people in about 200 homes. To my knowledge not one home was spared some
damage. Some people have lost everything they own. Many people will be out of their homes for months.I live just out of town and the water did not get into my home and studio but it did get some shedding and about 1 mile of fencing.I am the lucky one. A friend and I have decided we will try to make
a quilt for each home. We will have working bees and I will quilt the tops.

If any of you have any orphan blocks that you are looking for a good home for we can make up sampler quilts.please post them to me at P.O. Box 91 Carisbrook,Victoria,3464 Australia.
Every one will make a difference. With gratitude and thanks!

Have sent your request to every quilter I know and asked them to bring blocks to me. I will send whatever I get at our next meeting which is on the first Thursday of each month. Will pray for you all.

Could you use some 6" black and white 9 patches? They are left over from a project. Might dig something else out too never know. Let me know.

    Franie,

This is in reply to another question, but I think it means that they would be happy to receive whatever you can donate.

Amazing, I sent blocks to Wilma this morning, and I've only just realised, I know her family. Small world.

    Hi Wilma,
My sister Terri lives in Capalaba, near Brisbane, in Queensland, and she has been reporting the damage to us first hand. This flood is terrible and it just goes on and on! Terri and family are OK, but she is worried about her Aussie friends in other communities. This is a wonderful thing you are doing, and a tangible way we quilters can directly help the flood recovery effort! I am collecting blocks to send to you in bulk from the WEST. So if any of you have orphan blocks, any size, any type, please send them along to me; Wilma and her team will make them into beautiful quilts. While I have been designated from the West, I welcome blocks from anywhere. Postage to Australia is expensive, so if you can send along something to help with postage, it would be a great help. Let's help "flood" Wilma with blocks!! Wilma, I hope you are getting ready! I already have over 70 blocks for you, and I know more are coming soon! Please keep those blocks coming! Sign your blocks & city name if you like! Any questions? OK to call or email me. Let's show Wilma how the West was Won!!

Jan - thank you for providing a USA address. It's the postage that may stop some from contributing. I'll get some blocks to you.
