Has anyone tried the OttLite bulb that you just put in your own lamp? I bought one at Joanns on Sunday because they were on sale. Couldn't afford the whole lamp. Came home and put in my floor lamp by my sewing machine and what a difference from a regular light bulb, and much cheaper than the ottlite floor lamp.

Thanks for the info, too many times we think something only works in the original object it was made for.

I didn't know you could use the Ottlite bulb in your regular lamp. Thanks for this info!

Yes the base is just like a regular light bulb. I did have to take my lamp shade off to get it started because at first it was to tall, but then it was great and put lamp shade back on. I understand they use this kind of bulb in Alaska during there 6 months of night.
