Anybody ever used paint sticks for autographing on dark fabrics? I'm making a memory quilt for a retiring teacher friend and using black for an old-fashioned chalk board. Anybody used paint sticks? Open for suggestions!!!

I thought paint sticks were large chunky sticks. Go to an art supply store and look for something. The art section in JoAnn or Michaels or AC Moore might have something.

There are paint pens and you can get a fine tip on them. I am not sure how they would hold up but it may be worth a try. I would write on a scrap and wash it a couple of times

I saw a paintstik demo this weekend. They are really chunky and would be hard to get a nice signature. If you found a small stencil, people could stencil their names on with a pastel paintstiks.

I work at Hobby Lobby - let me see what might be available when I go into work this evening! My first thought was pigma pens but I do not think they have a white.

Another option would have people sign their names and you go over them and use them as the quilting for the chalkboard. Could even add the teacher lines that they used to draw when they taught penmanship.

I agree. Paint sticks are too chunky. Another point is that a person using a paint stick is going to have paint on their hands, and if they touch another part of the quilt, that paint is permanent.
