I agree about the off brands..they hardly stick at all. I stick a piece on my arm to remind me my mini iron is on when i leave the room.

I use black electrical tape. I can use one strip over and over. When I longarm quilts that pucker, I stretch the tape a bit and lay it down on the quilt and it gently gathers the fabric for me and I can easily stitch. If I stitch over it, it pulls apart easily to remove. I also use it to hold up patterns on my big window for drawing applique. It does not stick to the paper (unless you leave it up for months and then I just tap a warm iron on it to release the glues). I prefer it over blue tape.

I don't think I noticed the tip that I use on my quilting frame.....when I have rolled the quilt, ready to start a new row I move the machine forward until it hits and that tells me I can't go beyond that point with my free motion quilt pattern....that is where I place the blue painters tape.

My quilt group makes a lot of charity quilts that we tie so we sandwich them, baste and tie on large banquet tables pushed together. The table edges are too thick for clamps so we tape the backing to the table with painter's tape.

I have all different widths of Painter's tape. It was great when I was making snap bags, just laid it on my fabric, batting and backing sandwich and sewed nice straight lines. Just move it over realign with previous stitched lines and away you go. I have also used it when quilting lines on a larger quilt. Just get the first line straught and you're in business.
