I used So Soft Fabric paint for my block in the snowman swap. Just remember to wash the fabric first and do not use any fabric softener when you wash it before painting. My snow lady blocks turned out awesome if I do say so myself.

the pre-washing and no softener rules are critical for durability...

I use artist or craft acrylics mixed with textile medium and extender (keeps the paint wet so you can work longer). I like my paint to be almost "inky" in consistency, just test to make sure it doesn't bleed on the fabric. I also heat-set my work.

I don't know if I would want to use the inks/dyes on children's hands or feet....
I would stick to the acrylic, water based fabric paints JMHO :D:D:D
