    A Dear Jane 4" block came to mind... some of those have upward of 20 tiny pieces.

    I was at lqs and a lady cam in with a 1/4" hexagon block she says it's going to be a queen size it was amazing. You can Google it

    I've made a few of these patterns. I'm like you, I love a challenge. My quilting friends (affectionately) call me nuts, lol.
