I am in desperate need of a PP well to include on a block! I attempted one, but as my DH mentioned, it looks like a beautiful window, Window, how do you get that from a well? Here's my pitiful attempt, discarded without the bucket. The log base was longer but whacked it off with the rotory cutter... Help!

i think with a bucket and a crank on the side -rope to raise/lower the bucket and your well will look like a well!
it only represents a window now, because it has not received the identifying accessories needed to make it a well- don't toss it- finish it!

This might give you another direction to go. Google "wishing well quilt pattern" and you may get more ideas:) Keep us posted on your project.

I agree that with a bucket and crank it will transform itself into a very nice well!

I personally think it looks like a well that needs to be completed. With the bucket, handle, some flowers or grass at the base and the background It would be beautiful.

You need to make the sky recede. If you embroider some rope around the crosspiece and have your bucket hanging and maybe put a lip at the top of the bottom wood section.

Make the lip curved with a dark area in the center? Then echo the curve as you go down toward the bottom with stitching. It will make it look more 3-D. Rope, bucket and crank will make it look great.

Thanks for all the advice. The first one went into the scrap pile, here is my second attempt. Need to embellish a bit more but like it better than the first. Thanks everyone!
