    I agree with Tartan. It is difficult to control the seam allowance bulk with PP. Never heard that you could press the seams open. That is a new idea and might help you with your next block.

    Tried to find tutorials on how to "swirl" the center seams in a star to reduce bulk:

    That's the process I use on multi point seams and also on the simple 4 patch ones....makes " mini" things out of what were once just seam allowance joinings ans redistributes the bulk so no " volcanoes" are formed!

    I have also heard a clapper helps to smooth down bulky seams.......have to look into one.
