Paper Piecing Nightmare- any help?

Glad you got it sorted Susie, I love your colours....it will look stunning when you have finished it. And what a clever suggestion of Tartan to make it into a tablerunner if you're not enjoying the process!

Phew! Glad you worked out what was going on.
I have a paper piecing disability. Somehow, when I stitch and flip, I have stitched the wrong way so my seam allowance is what I open up. Drat. Backwards. Too much ripping and redoing for me. I'd rather sew lots and lots of tiny pieces with regular piecing method. My brain can't handle working backwards.
Your fabrics are very pretty; it'll be gorgeous when you finish - whatever size that ends up being.

Glad you figured it out and was able to share your work, wonderful block, love the colors. I happen to be a lover of PP, it's an acceptance for me that there is more waste in order to achieve those sharp points.

I love paper piecing, but I believe it's a technique that you either hate or love. Tartan suggestion is a great one, but if you still want to make a pineapple quilt, look up "exploding pineapple", very simple and easy, and you can make the blocks in 3 unfinished sizes.

I had a hard time connecting to paper piecing, too. It took me several attempts, and having pieces fit once they were flipped was the most difficult part for me. Then I discovered an easy way to tell if the piece will fit the space! Instead of trying to fold back the piece of fabric on the "seam line", instead fold the paper over the fabric! It's easy to see if the area on the paper falls within the piece of fabric you have placed there! After that discovery, I loved paper piecing.
