I"m glad you figured it out. Paper piecing is hard for me to get into. Once I get going I'm okay but I feel like I have to think in reverse at first which makes it hard. I'm glad you got the block done.

I guess it’s true what they say about paper piecing. You either love it or you hate it. I’ve done a bunch, and always have trouble getting started. Once I get going, it’s okay, though. Love your block, the colors are so soothing. Good job. Keep at it, it does get easier.

I agree! The rulers make it easy to make a pineapple block even for beginners!

I've done a lot of intricate paper piecing (as you can see in my avatar), I really like it especially for picture type blocks, or steep fussy points. I just tried freezer paper paper piecing and I loved it, don't think I will ever go back to regular fpp. I even ordered freezer paper for my printer to have on hand for when I print a pattern instead of drawing it.

I'd rather sew lots and lots of tiny pieces with regular piecing method. My brain can't handle working backwards.

Your fabrics are very pretty; it'll be gorgeous when you finish - whatever size that ends up being.
Oh yes! I too have a PP disability. I've tried and tried, but my brain also can't seem to grasp the concept. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Love your block! … and I love PP … you can stitch several blocks at the same time, press, trim. Good luck I hope it grows on you … it is a simple accurate way to make a beautiful quilt!

the only way I can make a good pineapple block is with the pineapple trim tool:
