    Okay All,

I am very new to quilting but whilst at a quilt show a while ago I signed up for a block of the month quilt top. Anyway, as the packs arrived each month, I just popped them into the cupboard. Okay, so now I find this site....... get a quilting mummy (frannie) and decide that I will give this quilt top a go. Well I get to block 3 and there is 'paper piecing'! My initial thought were arrrgghhhhhh!!!!!!!! I have never even seen this done let alone done it. So I google, get a basic idea, and give it a go.... and I thought it was fantastic. This was only for a small 6" square, but it seemed so easy.

Are there other patterns out there? Can anybody share quilts they have done using this method?

Ohhhhh I am getting so excited by this quilting thing!!!!

    Hugs

    Caroline

Welcome to the fun world of paper piecing. I use the freezer paper method, no picking out of little pieces of paper!

Caroline, I used paper piecing for the diamonds in the quilt in my avatar. I had made this same quilt once before and didn't paper piece the diamonds, but this was so much simpler and certainly the blocks turned out much nicer. There are lots and lots of patterns out there for paper pieced blocks.

If you use the search function at the top of the page, type in "paper pieced patterns" all of the ones that have been posted in the Links section will appear :D:D:D

You can get Carol Doaks DVD from this UK Ebay site. It works on all DVDs. I have bought 4 of them. It comes to $5 US. It is well worth it. It is actually better than a class, very comprehensive.

Mine came really quick to, about a week.

This one was for a Japanese friend for last Christmas. Blocks are 8", oversized king, took 9 months.
