jshorty, If you can get hold of a Carol Doak pattern, she gives measurements for each piece in the block. Less frustration and more accuracy. Carols patterns and method are amazing. Www.caroldoak.com. She is going to be teaching at Road to Calif this coming January if you can make it. I teach her method and am doing so again in March in St. George
