I am looking for a quick and easy Patriotic 12 inch block for our guild's swap. I have been mia from my guild for several months and was told this morning blocks are due next meeting. This will be my first meeting to attend since August-went back to work.lol
    Thanks for your help

If you go to the Quilts of Valor foundation web site they have several free patterns. www.QOVF.org

Most any block can be patriotic if its R/W/B. Just my opinion.

I agree. With this short notice, I would choose any 12" block you are comfortable making and usew red, white & blue fabric.

This is one Moda used a couple years ago for some honor quilts. It uses the "snowball" technique of a small square on a corner, sewn on the diagonal, folded back to corner of base square.

Cut your 8 white "background" squares at 4.5" square.
Cut your 1 blue "star center" squares at 4.5" square.
Cut your 8 red "point" squares at 2&5/8" square.

Jan - I love that block! Going to save it for quilting in any color.

I am working on a red, white and blue patriotic quilt right now. I too picked a block pattern I like, then (for the first time) I have incorporated a very cool eagle panel into the quilt. So far, so good! Stay tuned...
