I did a log cabin recently for a soldier in hospital. The red/white and blues looked so pretty in it. He was thrilled too.

I saw a nice looking quilt in a magazine once that was just friendship stars and rail fence blocks alternating, in red white and blue. It would go together fairly fast because they are easy blocks and the "stars and bars" theme would look patriotic too.
