Has anyone made this Little Brown Bird quilt and if so how difficult would you say it is. I would guess my skill level for applique would be around the intermediate level.
I don't want to buy the book only to find out it is way over my skill level and end up putting the book on the shelf never to be touched again.

I'd say with a title with Masterpiece in it, I wouldn't even be able to open it's cover, but then I am truly bad at handwork.

Go ahead and buy the book and figure you may want to work on a couple of projects to perfect techniques first.

It looks like a ton of work, but absolutely worth it. The quilt is gorgeous.

Just looking at the pics of the pattern on the cover tells me it would take a very long time and involves a great deal of detailed work. That being said, This would be a great fire side quilting project that I would play with for a couple years in between other projects.

I made it, even had the yahoogroups group for awhile. I invited Margaret to be a member and her thoughts on the list were a great help.
That said, do you love applique? Do you love appliquing vines?
I'm the world's worst embroiderer, so used pen work for that part, it looked fine.
One thing she did was cut all the blocks on the bias, so starch them well and do a tiny stay stitch around the edge, and cut a little big, trim to size afterward.

If we were in a hurry we can go to the store and buy a blanket. a quilt is a whole 'nother thing.

Oh no I did not notice it was the DVD, thank you for pointing that out. I don't have a computer in my sewing room and I would have worn a path between the sewing room and the office, and myself too. Just my luck the book is almost twice the cost of the DVD. I think I'll try to find a used one somewhere.

Don't discourage yourself on something complex.
Just go blindy ahead ... and learn as you go!
Sometimes we talk ourselves out of things, that if we knew no better, we could do ...
Yup, been there, done that and have the t-shirt!
I have blindly gone ahead on quilts that apparently I did not have the abilities to do.
... I just knew no better!!!
And guess what? I finished them and have had many compliments on them.

Check out Amazon, I followed the link given previously by Sewing Senior ...to click 'here'. Amazon has listed some used books for as little as a dollar and some change. Sure beats the price of a new one if you are only looking to see the patterns in the book.
