    Unhappy Pencil marks on fabric!

Hope someone can give some suggestions on how to remove pencil marks on fabric!!! I did a small Christmas wall hanging and outlined snowflakes which I then tried to quilt. I washed the wall hanging and sprayed the areas with the pencil outline with shout. Guess what, they didn't come out!!! Anything else I can try?

    Thanks so much.

Connie, you have hit on a problem that has stumped quilters for decades. Unfortunately, part of the problem is that pencils are made with various materials, so what comes out with one kind of pencil, won't work on another. I would try a white eraser, although now that you've treated it, I'm not sure that it will work. Art gum eraser is suggested by various online sites.

I did a small area once with a Magic Eraser.

Recently had this issue myself after years of never having a problem with pencil marks. After repeated washings (and NO drying) with all manner of stain removers with no success, I finally attacked the marks with dish detergent and a toothbrush. Had I worked on it longer I believe all the marks would have come out. As it was, after a few minutes the marks were barely visible and it had to be okay as I was out of time. It was being gifted the following AM. I knew the marks were there but no one else could see them. Good luck.

I used this product called SewClean to remove pencil marks with success. I found it in my LQS. If you Google it, there should be a web site or two where you can order it.

I just did a quilt and erased my pencil marks with one of those gummy erasers, not a regular eraser. They are usually a clear color, sometimes a light beige color. I would never use a pencil eraser that comes on the pencil, it leaves it worse than before.
