I ran acroaa your inquiry about castle and dragons but can't find it again maybe you will see this note.

on castle
www.fatcatpatterns.com scroll down left side of page to there be
dragons. you said you don't want tp applique so maybe use a product like wonderunder and iron it on a just machine stitch around on it. good luck hope to see what you come up with. by the way these are free sites
