Default Pfaff 1221 sewing machine feed dogs

In visiting with my sister-in-law last evening, she mentioned that her feed dogs are no longer functioning. She wondered if it may be 'a gear' that she needs to replace but because she has had the machine since approximately 1975, she isn't sure she can find the part. Can someone offer any info of where/who to contact about this machine? This QB group of people seem to have a lot of information. Thanks in advance.

Are they stuck in the 'down' position, or just worn too smooth?
    I'd contact a Pfaff dealer.

The feed dogs stay in one position, not moving at all, as though they are frozen.

I am not familiar with that specific machine, so not all of my suggestions may apply.

First thing to check is the stitch length on the machine. If by some chance stitch length is on 0, the feed dogs won't move.

If she wants to try to fix it herself, she can download a service manual for this machine for about $10 here:

This is a good machine and well worth getting serviced. As PaperPrincess mentioned, I would contact a Pfaff dealer to see about getting an estimate.
