Hi! I am wanting to get into embroidery....have a Pfaff 1473CD, but am wanting to get a machine specifically made for embroidery work. Do any of you have the 2140/2144? Would you recommend it or is there another machine you think is better? Thanks so much!! Lisa

I have a Pfaff 2170 but I never use the embroidery on it since I never learned the 4D system it uses.
I bought a Janome 350e (as mentioned above) and I was embroidering within 1/2 hr! Very user friendly. It comes with two hoops (5x7 is the largest). So if you want to use larger hoops the 350e won't be right for you.

Thank you both for the info. Nadine, are you using your 2170 just for quilting then? I do love my 1473CD, have had it over 20 years and it is running great! I am leary about going with another machine!! I do appreciate you for taking the time to respond!!

I've had the 2170 for approx 6 yrs now (I bought it used) and it's never given me any trouble. The only reason I would get rid of it is if the touch screen ever stops working. I doubt if I'd be able to get a replacement. Its really a great machine.

I have a 2144 and I love it. The embroidery unit is easy to use and it comes with the 3D softwear for use with Windows XP. I have all the upgrades so my machine is equal to the 2170. It does embroidery and sews beautifully! I will show you a couple pics of embroidery that I have done using this machine. You won't go wrong with either machine. The last photo is of one of the built in decorative stitches used as a quilting stitch. It is a wonderful machine.
