I think ill use the white since id hate for the red to bleed to the white in the seams. Id hate to do all that work to see the thread through the finished quilt.

I always piece with beige or white thread, I gave up using color thread for piecing a long time ago, I only use color threads when I applique.

Exactly what I do. The theory is it won't show....and if it does, I have a bigger problem than thread color!

I'm so glad this thread was posted, it opened my eyes I am also searching for the right color of thread to match the fabric I'm piecing. I will now use up all these small spools of thread I have from my clothing sewing days and all the bobbins that came with my machine I bought at an Estate Sale, of course after checking to see if the thread is still good.

Just "audition" the thread on the fabrics, and see which one blends in the best, then use that color. That's what I do. I use black, white, cream, tan or light grey, depending on how they audition on my fabric. It probably doesn't matter since no one should see the stitching anyway, but I like my method. We all doing some things just a little bit differently, and the Quilt Police are not going to line up at your door to chastise you over your color selection, I promise!

I use neutrals when piecing and often I simply use what I have in the bobbin. It has never been an issue (white, cream, tan, grey.....)
