I am now making LOTS of these things. I press my squares corner to corner in half. Use a bit of Elmers stick school glue, to hold the square in place, on the outer corner. Then I use an edge stich foot , with the needle moved 3.5 to the right, and sew with the guide right on the fold. P. S. the square is folded with the right sides on the outside. Starch is your friend.

I took a class with Pat Speth last week, and that was the big a-ha moment for everyone! It really makes a difference stitching just outside the line, as they all come out perfect!

Thank you all for the good advice. Here is my apron strings block from the Farm Girl Vintage book. I sewed 8 corner squares in total and sewed just to the side of the line and the outcome was much better than previously. I also glued the squares in the corners to hold them exactly in place. The top is spot on size wise but the bottom is still a bit out with the pink and yellow bits and some of my points are off but it is definitely a big improvement. I am very happy!

I think your block looks great! I had to do mine twice before I was happy with it! I was having the same problem as you were and then I started stitching just outside the line and it came out so much better. I also purchased the sew line glue stick with a lot of refills ! Hope you enjoy Farm Girl Fridays!!!!

I usually sew just inside the line toward the corner. That seems to give enough extra to press back an have it cover the corner. Also could use a slightly bigger corner piece and press it and trim the extra to match the main piece. Hope this is clear so you can try it.
