Glad you've got it sorted now. Have you worked out where you went wrong in the first place? Backing piece too small? Sandwich not correctly aligned?

I've never had this happen, but I did discover the hard way last time I basted something that if the backing has a very obvious, large repeat, you need to get it centred properly. I ended up with my cheery owl print at a bit of a jaunty angle, with the owls getting cut off at a slightly different place each time they turned up.

I just did the same thing 3 days ago on a queen sized quilt I need to finish in a hurry. I refused to repin it. I had already redone part of it once. I just added a piece on to the quilt back to cover the gap. Once it is quilted over it doesn't show.

Did you make those adorable sheep in your Avatar? I would love to find a pattern for them to make for my GKs.

I don't completely close the pins until I'm done because I always have to go back and staighten out a bad spot, usually someplace close to the middle.

And now you know why my dresden plate quilt is just setting there. I'm sure I will do the same thing and can't even face starting to pin it!

Has anyone tried those little cosmetic sponges, cut in half across - instead of Pinmoor?
