    MMM - I would get rid of it - not worth the possible consequences.

    As far as filling, I use Corn Cob - the particulate that is used in a bras tumbler. The DH has a 100# bag of it(lol) works just fine.

    When I make Pincushions, I make an inner bag about the same size of the pincushion with a filler :
    [ATTACH=CONFIG]450595[/ATTACH]
    and sew it in place before turning the pincushion. I have the "spout" sticking out the hole I turned it through. Works fantastic when filling with sand, walnuts etc!! Easy to sew closed before you sew the hole closed in the pincushion.
