Long ago I made the ones with teacups and saucers figuring to sell them . Well I ended up giving them to a friend and she gave them as gifts. .. I think the ones made out of planters are a good idea to keep something in the family. I was wondering if you plan on actually using it? .
If someone wants something smaller look for vintage toothpick holders.

I buy the appropriate size tomato pincushion to use as the base of my stuffing for the planters, put sand or batting around it and cover it with wonderful coordinating fabric.

That's a great idea, I have two novelty planters that belonged to my Aunt, she always had them in her kitchen window and I snagged them when she passed. I don't keep too many house plants because we winter in TX and I don't like for someone to have to care for them while I am gone. I am gonna do this.

What a great idea! I have a couple of vintage planters with dachshunds that I bought because they were so cute. One of them might have to become a pincushion.

Those are so cute! If I come across one, I may just have to make one.
