Good morning quilter friends! Be sure to search out (here on the QB) Wild8580's Scrappy Pineapple Quilt (I THINK that's what she called it) It is fabulous... made with recycled men's plaid shirts! She used the book and ruler Positively Pineapple, which I also bought. It inspired me to start collecting men's cotton plain shirts, too, and I ended up with more than 75 before I stopped to count! (I'll be making several quilts from plaid shirts! ha ha) Check her Pineapple quilt out... it's really pretty!!!

If you would like to, I would suggest you check out this link http://quiltwithdonna.com/foldystuffpageb.html

It is a simplier way to do the pineapple as well as other common blocks. I use it sometimes as I don't have confidence in my abilities and this helps me.

Look up Eleanor Burns September 2013 block party Pineapple quilt. I am making a scrappy red and white one at this time. I ordered the booklet with the instructions. One more round of reds and the corner blocks and I will finish 23 blocks. I forget how many blocks I'll need for a king size but find it goes faster to do chain piecing. I did one block to see how it would look so here's a picture of the finished block. There are lots of good suggestions from others too.

Jane Hall and Dixie ________________? teamed up and wrote a lovely book on Pineapple Quilts several years ago. Look at that if you can find it.

    Default Scrappy Variation

This is the Bonnie Hunter version done with 2 1/2 in scrap batik strips. I sashed each block so it wasn't so busy....very quick, very easy.

I've made two pineapple quilts. Both were PP and scrappy. They had 30+ pieces per 6" block and used up lots of smaller scraps and cutaway triangles.

I later bought a pineapple ruler. It's ok, but i found it slower going than the PP blocks and was not long enough to make 12" blocks. You can easily resize paper foundations and have them printed somewhere if needed.
