I like the Clover patchwork pins - yellow and blue glass heads. They work great, but do bend easily. I just keep a box in stock and replace them as needed. The Kay Buckley pins are the thinnest I have ever seen - actually too thin for me.

[QUOTE=Jan in VA;7528078]Clover brand flower-head pins are the thinnest of this type on the market. I refuse to piece without them!
Ditto, Jan! The blue flowers are the thinnest and my favorite.

I'm not sure how long I have had my flower head pins or what brand they were... I like that the flower heads lay flat and are easy to remove while sewing... but the flowers are starting to come off, maybe I've had them way too long.

I too like the Clover patchwork pins. Got them on Amazon. These are different from the silk pins mentioned earlier. I also use the larger yellow head pins if I have something thicker to pin or for most garment sewing but love the Clover Patchwork pins for piecing.

As I am old enough to have diapered my son in cloth diapers with diaper pins that didn't always glide smoothly into the diaper, I still use this trick with my sewing/quilting pins -- run the pin through your hair and it will pick up just enough oil to glide smoothly. Worth a try.
