Pinterest etiquette?
It just struck me that I have put several quilts that I've seen in the Picture board onto my Pinterest board, without asking permission. I would like to apologize if I have offended anyone by doing that. How do you all feel about that?
Should we ask the quilter's permission before pinning a photo?

Some people would like a PM before their pictures are pinned.

To my way of thinking, no permission is not needed, but most of us would like to know that we've been pinned. ("hey, I liked your quilt so I pinned it. Thanks for sharing"). Mostly as an ego boost
Also, even though I keep my pins in locked accounts on Pinterest, I always try to make sure that I keep the link to where I got the pin - especially if I need more information about the quilt.
The fact is, once we've uploaded a picture of our quilt to QB it is totally accessible to EVERYONE (not just QB members).

Yes, this is a public board, so anyone anywhere can look. I shake my head when folks post kids' pictures.

Ditto on Sue's sentiments; once we post something here, it is on the wide open internet and accessible to anyone anytime. Thinking we can control usage of a picture after it is posted is not realistic. That being said, I LOVE it when I see my work "Pinned". It is indeed a compliment to me!

Try to always keep the link to the original quilt with your pin. Please give credit where credit is due. I have pinned quilts from QB and I thank the members who have posted their wonderful quilts here! You are all truly inspiring, therefore I pin.

I agree that it is just a nice way to show you like a quilt and want to share it. The quilter may also want to follow who else might like it too.
