I would like to try also. I get my cast off my hand and arm on Monday, so hope I'll be able to start sewing.

I spent yesterday 'experimenting' with pinwheel sizes. I now have 4", 5", 6" and 7" finished pinwheel blocks which I am happy with and have decided to use my scrap stash to make a 'row by row' pinwheel quilt.

Of course I may change my mind somewhere along the row :)
    I can't take credit for that..it's cristyk's design and she's doing it. :)

I'll be making roughly 120 pinwheel's using Whimsy (by Fig Tree Quilts) and Bella Solid Natural. I'm also going to sash with the natural to get a queen sized quilt in the end. It will rock. ;)

I would like to make 5 in. squares and I want to make a lap quilt. How much material would I need to buy? I will be doing the sew around method.

Ok. To me a lap quilt is about 42x58 with maybe a 2" border and a 3" border. Total 52x68

5" squares finish at 5.25" so you would need 8 pinwheels across the top and 11 down for 88 pinwheels.
That would be 88 light and 88 dark squares.
I yd of fabric 36 x 42 would give you 56 squares so I would buy 2 yards to have some extra for mistakes.
But you need for 2 blocks each so if I wanted only two colors I would get 2 yards of a light and 2 yards of a dark.
If you wanted it scrappy you could mix and match for a total 2 yards of each dark and light.

I hope you aren't confused. Ask more questions if you want!
Please remember this is MY way, not necessarily the right way!
I do the best I can.

    :-D :-D

We are up to 99 people!
Who's going to be number 100?
    I'll post new list tomorrow.

I may have to do this. also, as I am using different sizes from my scraps, too. I was wondering how I was going to get all the different sizes to go together...you came up with the possible answer...thanks. This is going to be fun!
