A twin size is about 63x85 so with 4.5" finished blocks you would use 14 blocks x 19 blocks for 266 blocks.

For a bed quilt you might consider using a larger block.
If you start with 8" blocks you will end with 9.5" finished blocks doing the sew around method.
    66x85 would be 7x9 blocks=63

    It will be beautiful!
    :-D

Great job on the practice blocks!

    Welcome!
I would love to see them! I may have to try to figure out how to make them also.

I would say slightly less than 1 1/2; does that work? This formula business is too much for me. I just pick a block, sew it and whatever ends up is what I use. I'll adjust size in the end by adding necessary borders. You guys are getting too complicated to have it be fun anymore! This is supposed to be a fun, fly by the seat of our pants thing, I thought
Good point!!! We are in it for the fun of it aren't we. I am going to cut my squares at 8", whatever I end up with is what I get. LOL or I may cut them all at 6". haven't made up my mind. I will know when I get there.
