I am making pin wheels and everything is going along fine..untill I seam the final seam. It seems like a real hard bump in the middle.
So I thought perhaps I should iron the final seam open. That got rid of the bump but now it puffs in the middle...what am I doing wrong??

I had the same problem and haven't figured it out yet. Everyone suggested ironing. I've ironed the way different ones recommended and still not having any luck. I've decided to change to another design for the quilt. Very disappointing.

You need to "twirl" your center seams to make them lay flat. Take out the 2 or 3 stitches that go past each seam allowance so you can open up the seams.
If you watch some of the videos at Quilt in a Day's website, Eleanor Burns explains the method on some of her blocks.

Here is a picture of a musical note patterned fabric. I had no trouble with the centers, but then I did stop a few stitches short.
Musical note pinwheel quilt. Double sided (same on both sides)

Apparently the stitches is my problem. I need to take a few of the stitches out, like the link called for. THANK YOU ALL for your info.
Beebee, thanks for posting this. I didn't mean to take over your posting. But thanks to your posting, I got helpful information. Sandy
